They are two names for the same group. Pygmy and dwarf angelfish are small marine angels, mostly in the genus Centropyge, that usually reach 3 to 5 inches as adults, compared with a foot or more for large Pomacanthus and Holacanthus angelfish.

Are dwarf angelfish reef safe?

They are best described as reef safe with caution. Many dwarf angels live with corals for years, but some individuals nip LPS, zoanthids, and clam mantles. Cherub and Flameback angels are often lower risk than Coral Beauty or Bicolor angels.

What size tank does a pygmy angelfish need?

Plan on at least 30 to 55 gallons for the smallest species and 70 gallons or more for larger or more active dwarf angels such as the Potter's or Eibli. Plenty of mature live rock for grazing and hiding matters as much as volume.

Can you keep more than one dwarf angelfish?
