WYSIWYG Coral FAQs

What makes TSA’s WYSIWYG corals different from other vendors?

At Top Shelf Aquatics, we treat our WYSIWYG corals as showcase pieces. Each coral is hand-selected by our farm team based on color, structure, and overall health. We don’t just photograph a random frag—we photograph the actual one you’ll receive using the same lighting under which it was grown.

Our photos are taken in-house, under a mix of Radion LEDs and metal halides, without heavy color correction. You’re seeing exactly what the coral looks like in our systems, and you’ll receive that same piece—fully healed and farm-raised under stable conditions. We’re not just listing a coral; we’re showing you a coral we’d proudly place in our own display tanks.

Are the corals in this section really the exact ones I’ll get?

Yes—100%. Every coral listed in our WYSIWYG section is a one-of-a-kind frag. Once it’s sold, it’s marked as out of stock and removed from rotation. We never send "representative" WYSIWYG frags or substitute pieces. What you see in the photo is exactly what’s packed and shipped to you—no exceptions.

How do I know the coral will look the same in my tank?

Lighting plays a big role in how corals appear, so we aim for full transparency. Our WYSIWYG photos are taken under controlled, consistent lighting—typically a mix of Radion and halide with no filters or saturation boosts. While some color variation is natural due to different tank setups, what you see is an accurate representation of the coral's actual appearance in our systems.

We also recommend checking your tank’s PAR range and spectrum against the coral’s care requirements, which we list on the product page. This helps ensure that your new frag colors up just as nicely in your environment.

Are these corals ready to grow, or do they need time to heal?

Every WYSIWYG coral we sell is fully healed and well-established before it’s photographed and listed. That means no fresh cuts, no rush jobs, and no guesswork. We give each frag time to encrust or show polyp extension on its plug before it even makes it to the storefront. This not only reduces the chance of post-shipping stress but also sets you up for faster growth once it’s in your tank.

What if a WYSIWYG coral is delayed, damaged, or doesn’t make it?

We take shipping seriously. Corals are packed by hand using insulated boxes and temperature control to protect them during transit. We only ship Monday through Thursday to avoid weekend delays, and every WYSIWYG coral is covered by our live arrival guarantee.

If anything happens in transit, just reach out with a photo within the specified timeframe, and we’ll make it right. These are irreplaceable pieces, and we stand behind every single one we ship.
