Its iridescent blue and purple hues become most vibrant under moderate to high white-spectrum lighting, while reef-blue lighting can produce an eye-catching fluorescent appearance. Because of its slower growth rate, Blue Hypnea maintains its compact form and requires less frequent trimming than many other macroalgae species.
