TSA stands for Top Shelf Aquatics, and a TSA name on a coral means our team selected, named, and propagated that strain on our own farm. The Signature Series brings those TSA corals together in one place, alongside a select group of well-known hobby strains, including ORA and Tyree lineages, that we grow out in the same systems. How a coral earns a TSA name

A strain earns a TSA name only after it has been propagated through multiple generations in our systems and has held its coloration, growth form, and health from one cutting to the next. That consistency is the point. A TSA name tells you the strain has a track record in captivity, not just one good photo, so the frag you receive comes from a lineage that has already proven it can thrive in a reef aquarium.

What is in the Signature Series

The collection spans most major reef coral groups, so you can build an entire display from Signature corals:

• Acropora and other SPS: TSA Acropora such as Bill Murray, Four Loko, Bali Blue Slimer, and Rainbow Sherbet, Montipora like Periwinkle Passion and Pink Halo, and branching favorites like TSA Blueberry Stylophora and Jade Dragon Birdsnest.
• Zoanthids and Palythoa: the largest group in the collection, from TSA Frosted Phoenix, Frozen Apple, Safecrackers, and Rainbow Spectrum zoanthids to TSA Lemon Twist Palythoa.
• LPS: TSA Raspberry Limeade Goniopora, Evergreen and Mardi Gras Galaxea, aquacultured plate corals such as Frosted Sun and Rainbow Blanka, and Blastomussa.

Signature strains are offered in more than one format, so check the product title and description to see which one you are buying:

• Cut to order: the photo shows the mother colony, and your frag, typically ¾–1 inch, is cut from it for your order. Shape and branch count will differ from the photo.
• Almost WYSIWYG: you receive a frag similar in shape and size to the one pictured, at a lower price than an exact-specimen listing.
• WYSIWYG: the coral in the photo is the exact piece that ships. Browse one-off specimens in WYSIWYG corals.

Lighting and coral photos

Signature corals are photographed under our farm lighting, which is set up to show off fluorescence. Under a whiter spectrum, or while a new frag acclimates, the same coral can look different. Judge a new arrival by tissue health and polyp extension first, then give its color a few weeks to settle under your reef lighting.

Building a reef with TSA corals

Because every Signature strain is grown in the same water chemistry, lighting, and flow, they make a natural set for one system. Group them by what they need. Acropora, Stylophora, and Birdsnest go on the upper rockwork with strong light and flow, with Montipora just below them. Goniopora, Galaxea, and Blastomussa sit in the middle to lower rock with moderate flow, and plate corals belong on the sand bed. Give Galaxea extra room, since its sweeper tentacles reach well beyond the colony. Zoanthids, Palythoa, and clove polyps spread quickly, so give them their own rock island to keep them off your stony corals.
