Cycled Media for Dry and Man-Made Rock
Most reef aquariums today start with man-made or base rock rather than natural live rock. That rock arrives without the established bacterial population a new system needs, which is why seeded filter media is so valuable when starting a tank. Adding spheres that have already matured alongside natural live rock gives your aquarium an excellent base of bacteria from the start, helping it cycle faster and stabilize sooner.
How Many Spheres Do You Need?
Each sphere can stabilize up to 18 gallons, so divide your total system water volume by 18 and round up. For example, a 36-gallon system calls for at least two spheres, and a 90-gallon system calls for at least five.
Placement and Arrival
Place the spheres in an area of your sump, filter, or display that receives steady water flow, since the bacteria living in the media rely on oxygenated water moving through it.
Wild Reef Pre-Seeded Bio Media must be put in aquarium water upon arrival to maintain its live benefits.
