The Banded Trochus Snail is our favorite snail species here at TSA. A simple, hardy, and powerful algae cleaning machine. These snails are very hardy and can easily flip themselves over if they end up on the sandbed. Trochus Snails can grow up to 3” in shell size, and are known to readily spawn in the home aquarium, capable of creating a stable population over time. The Banded Trochus Snail is very peaceful and because of its shell shape, is not easily eaten or harassed by crustaceans.
Introduction to Trochus Snail (Reef-Safe Algae Grazer & Cleanup Crew Essential)
Trochus snails (Trochus sp.) are hardy, reef-safe algae grazers known for their ability to consume film algae, diatoms, and cyanobacteria while being one of the few snail species that can right themselves if flipped over. Trochus snails readily reproduce in a home aquarium, making them an excellent long-term addition to reef tanks. With their durability, peaceful nature, and efficient algae-eating behavior, trochus snails are a top choice for reef keepers looking to maintain a clean and balanced aquarium.
