Constructed from durable acrylic, the sump is designed around practical workflow: equipment placement is logical, access is unobstructed, and the chamber layout separates intake, skimmer, and return sections cleanly.
The intake section uses a spill-over design feeding twin 7-inch filter sock holders pre-fitted with 200-micron socks. Three 1.5-inch intake drains handle high flow rates, and the bubble-diffusing chamber prevents microbubbles from migrating downstream to the display. Compartment lids keep operation quiet — a detail that matters when the sump sits in an open cabinet beneath a living room tank.
The V2 revision removed the freshwater reservoir found on earlier models and added built-in heater holders, an emergency drain holder, and improved drain routing. Adjustable baffles allow water depth in the equipment section to be set anywhere from 5 to 9 inches, which gives you flexibility when matching skimmers or reactors with specific operating depths. A triple probe holder and four-slot tubing holder are integrated into the body, reducing the need for aftermarket clip-on accessories.
The skimmer section measures 17 × 21.6 inches — large enough to accommodate full-size protein skimmers including IceCap's own K1-160 and K3-160INT. The return pump section is 9.8 × 21.6 inches.
