Reef Snow - Brightwell Aquatics
Goes well with:
Feed the water column. Fuel the reef.
Brightwell Reef Snow is a unique suspension-based coral food designed to replicate the natural concept of “marine snow”—delivering both organic and inorganic nutrients in one balanced system. Combining carbonate-bound elements in aragonite ratios with marine-derived proteins and lipids, it supports both skeletal growth and soft tissue development across a wide range of reef inhabitants.
Unlike traditional coral foods that focus only on organics, Reef Snow provides a dual approach. The inorganic fraction supplies essential elements used in calcification, while the organic components feed corals, clams, sponges, and other suspension feeders. This makes it especially effective for mixed reefs and systems housing filter feeders or non-photosynthetic corals.
It’s clean, efficient, and easy to use—no refrigeration required.
When dosed into the system, Reef Snow creates a fine particulate suspension that mimics natural feeding conditions. Corals respond by extending feeding tentacles, capturing particles from the water column just as they would in the wild. For best results, dosing at night—when most corals actively feed—maximizes uptake and efficiency.
Dosing is flexible depending on your system and goals. It can be broadcast into high flow areas to feed the entire tank or target fed directly to specific corals for more controlled nutrient delivery. As with any coral food, starting slow and increasing gradually is key to maintaining nutrient balance.
Dosing Guidelines
Shake well before use. Turn off skimmer and mechanical filtration before dosing and resume after 10–15 minutes.
Broadcast Feeding: Dose up to 2.5 mL per 50 gallons every other day for the first four weeks, then adjust as needed.
Target Feeding: Use a pipette or syringe to gently deliver Reef Snow 2–4 inches upstream of corals.
For best results, feed after lights out when corals are fully extended.
Best Practices
Use as part of a balanced feeding strategy—Reef Snow is a food, not just a supplement.
Avoid overfeeding; total liquid foods should remain controlled, especially in newer systems.
Maintain strong filtration and nutrient export to keep the system stable.
Why It Works
In natural reef environments, corals don’t just rely on light—they feed on a constant stream of particulate matter drifting through the water. Reef Snow recreates that environment in your aquarium, delivering a complete nutrient package that supports growth, coloration, and long-term health.
If you want to feed your reef the way nature intended, this is it.
