Coralline Algae is one of the most sought-after beneficial algae in marine aquariums and is widely recognized as a sign of a mature, stable reef system. These beautiful purple, pink, red, and occasionally green calcified algae naturally encrust rocks, overflows, pumps, and aquarium walls, creating the vibrant appearance of a thriving natural reef.

Beyond its striking coloration, coralline algae plays an important role in the health of your aquarium. As it grows, it occupies available surfaces, helping to outcompete nuisance algae for space and reducing the likelihood of unwanted algae taking hold. Its hard, calcium-based skeleton also helps stabilize live rock by binding surfaces together and creating a natural foundation for beneficial bacteria.

For best results, maintain stable water parameters with calcium between 400–450 ppm, alkalinity between 8–9 dKH, magnesium between 1300–1450 ppm, and avoid allowing nuisance algae to overtake new growth.
