The VorTech MP60mQD is EcoTech Marine's highest-output propeller pump, designed for large-format reef systems where significant, three-dimensional water movement is a biological necessity rather than a convenience. The QuietDrive motor separates the dry-side controller from the wet side via a magnetic coupling through the tank wall, so no electrical components are ever submerged. That architecture reduces electrical risk while also making the visible hardware as low-profile as any circulation pump on the market.
Flow is adjustable across a wide range and shaped by 12 discrete modes tailored to different coral and fish communities. Reef Crest and Short Pulse modes deliver the turbulent, high-energy surge that SPS corals thrive on, while Lagoon and Tidal Swell modes replicate the gentler, more variable conditions preferred by LPS and mixed reef setups. Nutrient Transport Mode runs a two-phase cycle—first suspending detritus with wave motion, then pushing particles toward the overflow with surge—making it a practical tool for tank cleanliness as well as coral health. Gyre Mode enables clockwise and counterclockwise circulation cycles lasting anywhere from 2 seconds to 2 hours when two pumps are paired.
Wireless control is handled entirely through the Mobius app on iOS or Android. There is no additional wireless module to purchase or install; the controller communicates directly with a mobile device. For hobbyists running Neptune Systems Apex controllers, the MP60mQD is also compatible with the MXM module, allowing EcoTech pumps and AquaIllumination lights to be managed inside Apex Fusion alongside the rest of the system without switching between separate apps.
The MP60mQD accommodates tank glass between 0.375 and 1.00 inch (9.5–26 mm) thick, covering most standard and custom sumped reef builds in the 120- to 1,000-gallon range. Power draw scales from 10 watts at idle to 60 watts at full output—efficient for the flow volume produced. The included Foam Guard protects fish and invertebrates from the propeller, and the full hardware kit handles mounting without sourcing additional parts.
