Vectra L2 - Return Pump (3100 GPH) - EcoTech Marine

The Vectra L2 is EcoTech Marine's largest return pump, delivering up to 3100 GPH against a maximum head height of 21.5 feet. Unlike fixed-speed AC return pumps that rely on a choke valve to manage flow, the L2's variable-speed DC motor lets you dial in exactly the flow rate your system needs — running at the lowest power draw required rather than throttling a motor that's deliberately oversized. The result is quieter operation, lower electricity consumption, and a more predictable noise floor in the cabinet.

Control runs through the included QuietDrive L2 Controller, which handles all speed regulation and mode management locally, then communicates wirelessly via Mobius. Through the Mobius app on iOS or Android, you can switch operating configurations, set Feed Mode, adjust flow profiles, and monitor the pump without standing in front of the sump. For users already running Neptune Apex, the MXM integration brings the Vectra into Apex Fusion alongside EcoTech and AquaIllumination equipment under a single interface — no secondary app required.

The L2 can be configured as either a standard return pump or a closed-loop circulation pump. In closed-loop mode it gains access to the same randomized and pulsing flow modes found on EcoTech's Vortech powerheads. Return pump mode adds calibration tools and Speed Lock, which holds a fixed flow rate regardless of head pressure changes. The pump is sealed for both inline (external) and submersible use, giving it genuine flexibility across sump plumbing layouts.

Installation and maintenance are simplified by the QuickCouple system: 1.5-inch input and 1.25-inch output quick-disconnect fittings are compatible with standard schedule-40 PVC, and the volute can be rotated to align the pump outlet with your existing plumbing rather than the other way around. Routine cleaning requires no tools — uncouple the fittings, remove the pump, and reassemble. The included wall mount bracket keeps the driver off the sump floor and positions the controls at a readable height.

For systems where a power interruption is a serious concern, the Vectra L2 is compatible with EcoTech's Battery Backup unit, which can sustain pump operation during outages and has been shown to meaningfully extend the survival window for fish and corals beyond the 4–10 hour threshold typical of flow-dependent livestock.
