Point-style leak sensors have an obvious limitation: water has to find that exact spot to trigger a response. The HYDROS Rope Leak Sensor solves this by giving you a continuous detection line you can route along the perimeter of a sump, around a reactor, beneath a return line, or across the floor of a cabinet. The moment moisture bridges the black and white sensing cables woven into the rope, the signal reaches your HYDROS controller and the system can act immediately — no manual checks required.

Setup is straightforward. Plug the sensor into an available Sense port on your HYDROS device and lay the rope flat against the surface you want to monitor. If you need to secure it in place, apply tape only at the ends so the sensing area stays fully exposed. After positioning, run a quick wet test through the HYDROS app to confirm the port is reading correctly before you configure your automation rules.

Where the rope sensor becomes especially useful is in larger or more complex builds. Multiple sensors daisy-chain together to form an extended perimeter around a big display tank or a full equipment rack. They draw no power of their own, so chaining them does not require a drive port, an outlet on a power strip, or any additional wiring beyond the connectors themselves.

Automation options in the HYDROS app are fully user-configurable. A detected leak can send a push notification to your phone, flash a specific color on the controller's indicator, power down a return pump, or shut off a protein skimmer — whatever sequence makes sense for your setup. Remote monitoring is available around the clock, so whether you are at work or away for the weekend, you have real-time visibility into sensor status alongside your other parameters and equipment.
