Reef Sump 48XL - IceCap

The IceCap Reef Sump 48XL is a purpose-built filtration sump sized to support large and demanding reef systems. Its 48-inch footprint is divided into three functional zones — a 24 x 14.7-inch skimmer chamber, a 24 x 8.2-inch refugium, and a 9.8 x 12.3-inch return chamber — giving you genuine separation between equipment and biological filtration rather than the cramped, multi-purpose chambers found on smaller sumps. Adjustable water depth (5–9 inches) accommodates skimmers and return pumps with varying optimal water level requirements, reducing the need for aftermarket standpipes or risers.

The spill-over design in the filter sock compartment keeps water noise to a minimum by ensuring sock inflow is always submerged rather than free-falling. Two 7-inch, 200-micron filter socks are included, and with two 1.5-inch drain bulkheads pre-installed, the sump is ready to accept dual-drain plumbing configurations typical of modern overflow boxes. Compartment lids sit over the sock section to further dampen gurgling and reduce salt creep in that zone.

Adjustable baffles with probe holders give you a clean, built-in solution for positioning pH, salinity, and temperature probes at consistent, repeatable depths. The integrated 15-gallon freshwater reservoir provides meaningful ATO capacity for larger systems, eliminating the need to dedicate a separate container in an already-crowded equipment cabinet. A probe bracket with three 15.5mm holes accommodates most standard probe diameters without modification.
