K3-200 Protein Skimmer - IceCap

The IceCap K3-200 INT is an in-sump protein skimmer built for reef and marine systems up to 250 gallons. Where many skimmers in this size class offer fixed-speed pumps and limited adjustability, the K3-200 pairs its acrylic body with a controllable DCAIR pinwheel pump that gives you 10 discrete power levels. That range lets you dial in performance as your tank matures and bioload shifts, without swapping hardware.

The DCAIR pinwheel pump is designed around efficient air-water mixing. Drawing approximately 900 lph of air and 237 gph of water at rated output, it generates a consistent, fine-bubble column suited to steady skimmate production. Power consumption sits at 16 watts, which is low relative to comparable air-draw figures on needle-wheel designs. The submerged pipeless output keeps plumbing simple and eliminates the micro-bubbles that external return lines can introduce.

The integrated DC pump controller handles both power adjustment and a feed timer, so there is no need for a separate controller or smart outlet to pause the skimmer during feeding. Ten clearly defined power settings make it straightforward to reduce output during tank break-in or ramp up when bioload increases after adding livestock.

Installation requires a sump section with 7–10 inches of water depth and a footprint of 6.7 by 8.5 inches. Total height is 21.25 inches, so measure your sump cabinet clearance before ordering. The 8mm ID cup drain port accommodates standard tubing for continuous drain setups. The K3-200 is best suited to moderately to heavily stocked systems in the 150–250 gallon range where consistent skimmate output matters.
