IceCap External Media Reactor

The IceCap EXT Media Reactor brings a practical, external canister format to chemical media filtration. Unlike in-sump tumbler reactors, the EXT mounts outside the sump or in a cabinet, keeping the sump interior less cluttered while still delivering consistent, regulated flow through your chosen media. The removable canister is the standout feature: when it is time to change or top off GFO, carbon, or other granular media, the canister detaches cleanly so you can rinse and reload without disturbing the mounting hardware or disconnecting plumbing.

Each reactor includes an IceCap EVO feed pump sized to match the body. The Small EXT pairs with the EVO-1000 (20W) for tanks up to 100 gallons, the Medium EXT uses the EVO-2000 (30W) for tanks up to 250 gallons, and the Large EXT ships with the EVO-3000 (49W) to handle systems up to 500 gallons. Media capacity scales accordingly, from roughly 2 liters in the Small up to 6 liters in the Large. All three sizes share a 19mm (3/4 in) input/output barb diameter and include the necessary tubing to get running out of the box.

An adjustable output valve lets you dial in the exact flow rate without swapping fittings or adding additional valves inline. This is particularly useful when running GFO, where flow rate directly affects how aggressively the media tumbles and how quickly phosphate is stripped. Slower flow reduces tumble and extends media life; faster flow increases contact and throughput. Having that adjustment built in means you are not committed to a single operating point.

For installation, the reactor is designed to sit externally — on a sump rim, a cabinet shelf, or a wall-mounted bracket — with the feed pump drawing from the sump and returning treated water back in. The base plate provides a stable footprint. Factor in the unit's height (20 inches across all sizes) and the additional clearance needed above for canister removal when planning your install location.
