The IceCap INT Media Reactor is designed specifically for in-sump use, offering a cleaner installation than hang-on or external reactors in systems where sump space allows. The core design principle is simplicity: a canister body that unscrews for media access, an integrated pump mount, and an adjustable output valve — nothing superfluous. It runs on an included IceCap EVO-series pump sized to the reactor, so there is no need to source a separate feed pump or calculate flow compatibility.
The removable canister is the most practical feature in daily use. When media is exhausted, the canister lifts free of the reactor body, allowing spent media to be discarded and fresh media to be loaded and rinsed in the same vessel before reinstallation. This eliminates the cloudiness and fines that can result from dropping new GFO or carbon directly into a running reactor.
Three body sizes cover a wide range of system volumes. The Small (IC-GFO-100INT) handles aquariums up to 100 gallons with a ~2L media capacity and an EVO-1000 pump drawing 20W. The Medium (IC-GFO-120INT) scales to 250 gallons with ~3L capacity and an EVO-2000 at 30W. The Large (IC-GFO-150INT) is rated for systems up to 500 gallons, holding ~6L of media driven by an EVO-3000 at 49W. All three share the same 19–20 inch height profile, so sump clearance is the primary sizing consideration alongside tank volume.
Installation is straightforward for any reef keeper comfortable with basic sump plumbing. The reactor mounts inside the sump, with the EVO pump pulling water through the media chamber and the output valve returning treated water directly to the sump. The adjustable valve provides flow control without additional hardware. CoralVue backs the unit with a one-year limited warranty against defects in materials and workmanship.
