The IceCap 4K Gyre Flow Pump generates cross-flow circulation by spinning twin counter-rotating propeller cages to push water in a broad, linear sheet across the aquarium rather than in a concentrated jet. This gyre pattern reaches corners and low-flow areas that traditional powerheads often miss, making it a practical choice for SPS-dominated systems and high-bioload tanks where even water movement and gas exchange matter. The technology is officially licensed from Maxspect, the originator of the gyre pump format.

Flow output spans 1,286 to 4,000 GPH with power draw between 13 and 45 watts, giving the pump a wide usable range across tank sizes from 25 gallons up to large mixed-reef systems. The pump ships with two sets of propellers—orange and black—and the twin directional flow cages allow the operator to tune the flow angle without repositioning the magnet mount. The waterproof magnets accommodate glass or acrylic panels up to 5/8" thick and support both vertical and horizontal pump orientations.

The standalone controller provides five flow modes: Constant, Stream Wave, Random, Pulsing, and Cycle. Night mode automatically drops the pump to its minimum speed when ambient light falls below a set threshold, reducing noise and flow disturbance during dark hours without requiring a schedule. A controller lock prevents accidental mode changes, and the 20-minute feed mode cuts flow temporarily without disrupting the active program.

For aquarists already running a HYDROS controller, the 4K Gyre supports Direct Drive integration with the WaveEngine and WaveEngine LE (sold separately), which enables coordinated multi-pump programming and eliminates the need for the included standalone controller. The pump body measures 12" x 3.15" x 1.7" and weighs approximately 25 oz, keeping the footprint compact against the tank wall. A 6-foot cable provides reasonable routing flexibility in most cabinet setups. The pump carries a 1-year limited warranty.
