The IceCap 4K Gyre Flow Pump (Pump Only) is a crossflow circulation pump rated for aquariums from 25 to 150+ gallons, delivering up to 4,000 GPH using Maxspect-licensed gyre technology. This pump-only SKU is designed for hobbyists already running or planning to run the HYDROS WaveEngine multi-pump controller, saving the cost of a redundant power supply and controller. It ships with two sets of propellers (orange and black), twin directional flow cages, and waterproof magnet mounts. The pump can be oriented vertically or horizontally and mounted close to the water surface, giving considerable flexibility in positioning. A HYDROS IceCap Gyre WaveEngine Pump Adapter is required to use this pump with the WaveEngine.

The IceCap 4K Gyre Flow Pump generates the crossflow circulation pattern popularized by Maxspect—technology IceCap licenses officially—to move water horizontally from one end of the aquarium to the other. Rather than concentrating flow at a single point the way a standard propeller nozzle pump does, the gyre pattern distributes water evenly across the full column, bounces off the opposite pane, and completes a continuous loop. The result is virtually no dead spots, consistent flow across the substrate, and full-tank circulation that supports both coral health and efficient gas exchange.

At 4,000 GPH maximum and 1,286 GPH minimum, the 4K covers a wide range of tank sizes and flow preferences. Power draw runs between 13 and 45 watts depending on speed, which is efficient for the volume of water being moved. The slim 12" × 3.15" × 1.7" housing sits close to the waterline without dominating the view, and the waterproof magnetic mount accommodates glass or acrylic up to ⅝" thick. Two propeller sets are included—orange for higher visibility during maintenance checks, black for a more discreet look in the display.

This listing is the pump-only version, intended specifically for use with the HYDROS WaveEngine. The WaveEngine's Direct Drive ports can power and control up to four pumps from brands including IceCap, Reef Octopus, and Maxspect through a single power supply and a unified app, eliminating the stack of individual controllers and power bricks that typically accumulate in the cabinet. To connect the 4K to the WaveEngine, you will need the HYDROS IceCap Gyre WaveEngine Pump Adapter, sold separately. If you prefer a standalone setup, the full-kit version of the 4K includes a controller and power supply; alternatively, the IceCap Gyre Dual Pump WiFi Controller is compatible with all generations of IceCap Gyre pumps including this one.

Installation is straightforward: mount the magnet assembly on the interior and exterior of the tank wall, connect the pump to either the WaveEngine Direct Drive port or a compatible controller, and position the cage for the desired flow direction. The ability to mount vertically or horizontally near the surface gives flexibility in shaping the gyre pattern to suit the tank's footprint and livestock placement. Single Gyre Linear Flow Pattern
A single 4K Gyre pump placed on one side of the aquarium drives water horizontally across the full length of the tank, where it rebounds off the opposite wall to complete a continuous gyre loop. This end-to-end circulation eliminates the dead zones common with point-source propeller pumps.
