Hydros Water Level Sensor - Hydros

The HYDROS Water Level Sensor is an optical liquid-level detector built specifically for the HYDROS ecosystem. It plugs directly into any Sense Port on a HYDROS controller — no external power supply required — and communicates water presence or absence to the controller for use in rules, alerts, and automation routines. The GX12 aviation-style connector preserves the IP65 dust-tight and water-spray rating of the HYDROS Control unit, so adding a sensor does not compromise the controller's environmental protection.

The sensor's physical design keeps installation flexible and low-profile. The sensing body is roughly ¾" in diameter and just over half an inch thick, while the magnetic coupling side measures only ¼" thick. Together, the two halves clamp onto container or sump walls up to ½" thick — glass, acrylic, painted, or tinted. Because the sensor is fully optical with no moving parts, there is nothing to jam, corrode, or wear out over time. It functions in ambient light or total darkness, so placement inside a closed aquarium stand or inside an opaque dosing container is not an issue.

The sensor's versatility comes from how HYDROS rules can interpret its signal. A single sensor can act as a high-water or low-water trigger. A pair of sensors can form a complete dual-sensor ATO system — one marking the refill threshold, one acting as an overflow safeguard. Placed inside dosing containers, they can push a notification when a solution runs low. They can also be used to cut power to a pump or return line when water drops below a safe operating level, protecting equipment from running dry. The 98" cord provides enough reach for most common sump and stand configurations.

The HYDROS Water Level Sensor is manufactured by AutoAqua — makers of the Smart ATO Micro — in Taiwan, and is sold as an official HYDROS accessory.
