Hydros Temp Sensor - Hydros

The Hydros Temp Sensor gives HYDROS users a straightforward way to monitor aquarium water temperature and tie that reading directly into the platform's automation and alert systems. It plugs into any available Sense Port on a compatible HYDROS controller, draws power from that connection, and begins reporting temperature data to the HYDROS app immediately — no additional wiring, no separate power adapter. For reef keepers who rely on heaters, chillers, or fans to hold temperature within a narrow band, this sensor provides the real-time input that makes automated responses possible.

Setup is intentionally simple. The sensor body separates from a thin magnetic coupling: the probe goes into the water, the magnet sits on the dry exterior of the tank or sump wall, and the two halves hold each other in place through glass or acrylic up to ½" thick. The GX12 aviation-style connector on the cable end clicks into the Sense Port and maintains the IP65 dust-and-spray rating of the Control 2 and Control 4. From the app, users define high and low temperature thresholds — when water temperature crosses either boundary, the system can push a mobile alert, cut power to a heater via a connected HYDROS Power 4 or Smart Plug, or trigger any other outlet-level automation the user has configured.

The sensor itself has no moving parts and is built around a probe just over ½" thick with a diameter comparable to a US penny. The magnetic mount adds only ¼" to the external footprint. This small form factor makes it easy to reposition during maintenance and equally easy to clean. It is suitable for both freshwater and saltwater aquariums.

The Hydros Temp Sensor is an official HYDROS accessory manufactured by AutoAqua in Taiwan — the same company behind the widely used Smart ATO Micro. CoralVue has validated compatibility with the full HYDROS ecosystem and backs the sensor with a one-year limited warranty. Note that outlet-level automation (shutting off a heater or chiller based on temperature) requires heating or cooling equipment to be connected through a HYDROS power source such as the Power 4 or a HYDROS Smart Plug.
