The Hydros Start puts aquarium automation within reach for hobbyists who have been put off by the complexity or cost of traditional controllers. At its core, it monitors temperature and manages four AC outlets rated at 8A per outlet with a 14A combined load limit — enough to run heaters, return pumps, and lighting on a controlled schedule with rule-based automation and real-time alerts. Setup is handled entirely through the Hydros App, which walks you through device configuration without requiring any programming knowledge.

Beyond the included temperature sensor, the Start expands through four sense ports that accept Hydros-compatible sensors for leak detection, water level, flow, and TDS from an RO/DI system. Two 12V drive ports at 1.5A each provide power and signal for small auxiliary equipment like ATO pumps, solenoids, and cabinet fans. The controller also manages up to eight WiFi devices, including Hydros Smart Outlets and Power Strips, extending its reach across the cabinet and stand without additional wiring.

Command Bus ports enable fail-safe communication and power sharing if you later add additional Hydros units to your system. This means the Start can function as a standalone controller today and serve as the foundation of a larger multi-unit setup later — supporting dosing, advanced leak protection, and cross-unit redundancy as your system grows.

The Hydros Start measures 9.5" x 4.75" x 3.25" and includes a 6-foot power cord, making it straightforward to mount in a typical equipment cabinet. It suits reef tanks, freshwater aquariums, and pond applications equally well.
