Hydros Slim Temperature Probe - Hydros

The HYDROS Slim Temperature Probe gives aquarists a reliable, passive way to monitor water temperature without adding clutter or complexity to a system. Its IP68-rated waterproof housing allows full submersion, and its slim profile — 1.6" long, 0.32" in diameter — makes it easy to tuck out of sight in a sump chamber, overflow, or the back section of an all-in-one tank. There are no moving parts to wear out and no calibration steps required at setup or over time.

The probe plugs directly into any Sense Port on a HYDROS Control 2 or Control 4 hub. The GX12 aviation-style connector preserves the IP65 rating of the Control 2 and Control 4, keeping the overall system sealed against dust and water intrusion. With a 79" cord, placement flexibility is substantial — long enough to reach from a controller mounted on a stand to a probe positioned anywhere within the sump or display.

Through the HYDROS app, the probe integrates into automated safety routines. Users can configure temperature thresholds that trigger mobile push notifications, or set outlets controlling heaters, chillers, or fans to switch off automatically when readings fall outside a defined safe range. This requires compatible HYDROS-controlled power hardware such as the Power 4 or a Smart Plug. Running two or more probes — one in the display, one in the sump — adds a layer of redundancy useful for multi-level installations where the tank and equipment cabinet are on different floors.

This probe ships included with the HYDROS Control 2 and Control 4. It is also available individually as a replacement or as an additional sensor for systems where monitoring multiple water volumes is a priority.
