Maintaining water circulation during a power outage is one of the most critical safeguards in a reef system. The Hydros IceCap Battery Backup Cable Kit provides the correct wiring interface to connect a HYDROS WaveEngine to the IceCap Battery Backup V3, allowing the battery to supply power to the pump automatically when grid power is interrupted. Without the proper cable interface, the WaveEngine and the IceCap battery cannot communicate power correctly — this kit solves that compatibility gap.
The kit includes two purpose-made cables with 4-pin GX12 connectors. The first cable uses a female GX12 connector to link the WaveEngine's power supply to the 'Input: Pump Power Supply' port on the battery. The second cable uses a male GX12 connector to run from the battery's 'Output: Pump' port back to the WaveEngine's power port. The IceCap Battery Backup V3's own smaller power supply then connects to the 'Input: Charger' port separately to keep the battery charged and ready.
Installation follows a logical three-step sequence: connect the power supply to the battery input, connect the battery output to the WaveEngine, and plug in the charger. No splicing, soldering, or custom wiring is required. The connectors are keyed to reduce the chance of incorrect insertion.
This kit is compatible exclusively with the IceCap Battery Backup V3. If you are running dual IceCap batteries, a Y-cable configuration is also supported — refer to the wiring diagrams for both single and dual battery setups. Confirm your IceCap battery version before purchasing, as other versions of the IceCap Battery Backup are not supported.

Features
WaveEngine to Battery Connection
This diagram illustrates how the cable kit routes power from the HYDROS WaveEngine power supply through the IceCap Battery Backup V3 and back to the WaveEngine. It shows the role of each cable and the corresponding port on the battery unit.
Dual Battery Y-Cable Wiring
This labeled wiring diagram shows how to configure two IceCap Battery Backup V3 units in parallel using a Y-cable setup. Port labels on both batteries are identified to clarify input, output, and charger connections across the dual-battery arrangement.
Dual Battery Without Y-Cable
This diagram covers the dual IceCap battery configuration when a Y-cable is not used, labeling each port connection for both battery units. It provides an alternative wiring path for hobbyists running two batteries in their backup setup.
