Hydros Command Bus Terminator - Hydros
Goes well with:
The Hydros Command Bus Terminator is a passive plug designed to cap the end of a Hydros Collective Command Bus chain. In any RS-485 or differential bus topology — which the Hydros Command Bus uses — an unterminated line end can reflect signals back down the cable, causing data corruption, missed commands, or intermittent communication failures between Hydros devices. The terminator absorbs that signal energy, keeping the bus stable regardless of chain length or the number of connected devices.
Installation is straightforward: connect all of your Hydros Collective devices in sequence using Command Bus cables, then plug the terminator into the last available Command Bus port on the final device in the chain. No configuration, no firmware interaction, and no power is required. The terminator is a purely passive component.
The labeled wiring diagram included in product materials illustrates exactly where the terminator belongs in a Hydros Collective layout — at the open port of the last device node, with the controller at the opposite end of the chain. This makes it easy to verify correct placement without guessing.
If you are running more than one Hydros Collective device — a WaveEngine LE alongside a CoralDirector, for example — a Command Bus Terminator belongs in your setup. It is a small accessory that is easy to overlook at time of purchase but difficult to diagnose around once a complex system is showing intermittent communication issues.
Overview
Cap. Stabilize. Communicate.
The Command Bus Terminator ensures clean, reliable communication across all devices in a Hydros Collective chain by eliminating signal reflection at the final node.
Signal Integrity
- Absorbs reflected signals at the end of the Command Bus chain
- Prevents data corruption caused by unterminated bus lines
- Keeps communication stable as more devices are added
Simple Installation
- Plugs directly into any open Command Bus port
- No configuration or firmware interaction required
- Passive component — requires no power
Broad Compatibility
- Works with all Hydros Collective Command Bus-equipped devices
- Compatible with WaveEngine LE, CoralDirector, and related hardware
- One terminator required per chain, placed at the final node
