Edge 12 - Reef Breeders

The Edge 12 is Reef Breeders' entry-point LED bar in the Edge lineup, putting 30 watts of output into a focused beam rather than scattering it broadly. The Ocular Holo Matrix optics — Edge OHM Focus ships installed — concentrate that output to cover 24 inches of length with up to 6 inches of front-to-back spread, suitable for tanks up to 48 inches deep. For aquarists who need more lateral spread, the Edge OHM Balance (sold separately) widens the angle to 80° and extends front-to-back coverage to 10 inches, though it caps tank depth reach at 36 inches.

Four spectrum options address different livestock priorities. Reefer 14K blends white, blue, and UV for a natural appearance that works for both corals and fish — the only reef option here that includes white LEDs. Royal Ice uses royal blue and cool blue exclusively for maximum fluorescence and color pop with no white contribution. UV/Blue Hybrid combines royal blue, near-UV, violet, and indigo to target coral coloration and growth, and is specifically balanced to complement the extra white LEDs in a Meridian's Shallow Reef configuration. The Freshwater spectrum uses a mix of neutral, warm, and cool whites with 465nm cool blue, optimized for planted tank growth.

Control runs through two separate modes chosen at initial setup. App mode provides two-channel control up to 100% output with schedule programming and smooth sunrise/sunset ramps, connecting via 2.4GHz WiFi for remote access or Bluetooth for local use. The built-in manual controller operates without any app or network connection, running the full bar as a single channel up to 75% output with selectable 8, 10, or 12 hour timers. Switching between modes requires a magnet key reset, so the choice is worth making deliberately.

The Edge 12's aluminum body mounts via adjustable M6 bolts on top of the case, compatible with hanging wire setups, back-of-tank mounts, and T-track systems. It also integrates with the Meridian via Edge Articulating Mounts, attaching to the front or rear track to angle light toward the rockwork or glass. Power can run from a shared supply using a daisy chain cable alongside the Meridian, or from the included 50W supply independently. Mounting hardware — hanging wires and Edge Articulating Mounts — is sold separately, though Meridian Edge Bar Bundles include the mounts and power configuration already resolved.
