The IceCap Controllable 12V DC AIO Media Reactor addresses one of the more practical challenges in reef keeping: running chemical or biological filtration media effectively when cabinet or sump space is scarce. Built from high-quality acrylic and paired with an included 12V DC pump, the reactor arrives ready to run without sourcing a separate pump or adapter. The dual-chamber design gives you the option to run a single media type or split chambers between GFO and carbon simultaneously, keeping phosphate and dissolved organics in check without adding a second reactor to your setup.
Flow control is handled through five discrete speed settings on the DC pump, which matters more than it might seem. GFO performs best when tumbled gently to avoid grinding media into fines, while biopellets require a faster, more vigorous tumble. Having a pump that can be dialed in rather than throttled externally with a ball valve makes consistent performance easier to maintain over time. The pumps are sized to the reactor body—DC-200 for the Small, DC-400 for the Medium, and DC-700 for the Large—so the flow range is appropriate for each chamber volume out of the box.
The removable chamber design is a genuine convenience feature. Swapping spent GFO or carbon typically means pulling a reactor, draining it, and remounting it. With lift-out chambers, the process is significantly faster and less disruptive to the system. The acrylic construction holds up in both saltwater and freshwater environments for long-term use.
Size selection should be based on both tank volume and the media load you intend to run. The Small handles aquariums up to roughly 40 gallons with a 170mL capacity, the Medium covers up to 120 gallons at 345mL, and the Large scales up to 200-gallon systems with an 820mL chamber volume. For AIO tanks in the 20–40 gallon range, the Small's 2.2" x 2.2" footprint fits neatly in most back chambers without modification.
