what's going on reefers Blaine here in today's video we're going to go over the top 10 zoanthids from topshelf Aquatics whether it be beginners or experts zoanthids find their way into a range of Tanks no matter the skill level soft corals tend to get a bad rap in this hobby but zoanthids have always been a crowd favorite let's head over to the farm and get a better look at some of the hottest zoas at [Music] TSA [Music] zoanthids are soft corals that have always been quite the popular choice for our reef tanks at home since the early years of this industry coming in a wide variety of color combinations these corals can really brighten up your tank known to be an easy Coral to keep but understand that the difficulty of these varies from strain to strain some are easier to keep whereas some others could be considered difficult to keep so anthens are a very adaptive coral and when given proper time can adaptt to all kinds of circumstances in our reefs you can see them in dark shaded areas and even up high hanging out with the acropora the names of these corals are quite out of this world and people usually go crazy over them these zoanthids as well are a great Coral to trade amongst friends due to their easy ability to frag these corals up now let's get into our top 10 number 10 TSA Yellow Brick Road the name says it itself with the yellow tentacles and a brick colored oral disc that can really make your own Yellow Brick Road in your reef tank average size pups with a general average growth rate making these a great addition to any zoa Garden or collection The Fading of the green to blue on the inner parts of the tentacles into the outer oral disc is a really nice touch as [Music] well number nine wwc purple monsters these are a fast growing zoanthid to add to your collection and bring a really nice splash of coloration with a deep purple in its oral disc and a vibrant green being displayed on the outer tentacles these zoanthids with their smaller size can be perfect to utilize in Escape where you're looking to add some color in but may be in a restricted area these zoanthids are a great indicator for light intensity as well and will respond quickly to any light outside of what they're looking for whether it be too intense or too dull absolutely a stunner and a strain that has now been around for quite some time in the [Music] hobby number eight pink hippos if you have been looking to get a nice splash of pink into your Reef pink hippos are a perfect choice again like most of the zoan methods they look even better once they've grown out and are showcased in a larger Colony setting the pop sizes are in the average size range and when it comes to the growth rate it is fairly standard in the production of new pops coming out of it number seven rainbow incinerators a classic to add into our and a beautiful zoanthid at that these are a strain that you will notice in any tank right away and are one I'd recommend personally to anyone looking to add a nice zoanthid to their collection or garden the bright orange and yellow oral discs are hard to miss and the contrast of the green tentacles really makes them pop these are a specific zoa that do better in lower light so for sure some good shaded areas for these ones another cool highlight about these zoas is the bleeding green color you can see on some of the mouse from these zoanthid [Music] number six rosters the classics keep on coming in our top 10 list with our next selection being the rasta zoanthids these zoas have an amazing color combination where the tentacles are a bright green then the first ring is blue then to Green to orange into a nice reddish blue mouth the PPS on these are a bit smaller in size but they can really take off in a tank once they settle in and can grow from a small frag of a couple heads to a large colony in a good amount of time with their amazing coloration and fast growth these have become a fan favorite when choosing what their favorite zo is so of course it needed to make our list here at [Music] TSA [Music] let's take a little intermission between our top 10 zoanthid picks and talk a little bit more about zoanthid Gardens we're going to give you some tips and tricks to have success with them in your reef tank at home one of the first recommendations we have is when you are deciding on what zoas you want to add keep in mind these two things the growth rate of the zoas and the size of the polyps you want to make sure you're adding zoas that have SIM ilar growth rates so that way one doesn't take over on the other and also give them some space in between to get a good amount of PPS started out before they reach one another as for the size of polyps it's important to keep this in mind so that way when you're getting the choices of strains of zoas that you could potentially add into your tank they won't be shadowing out the others so similar growth rate and similar size in Pops to help mitigate some of the overtaking that occurs in a lot of zoa Gardens we see in reef tanks at home contrasting colors is another important aspect to keep in mind so that way you aren't getting a blend of similar colors next to each other but more so a rainbow of all the different shaves and colors intermixing with one another a great way to do this is to look at a basic color wheel and look at the complimentary colors such as yellow to purple red to green or blue to Orange taking these complimentary colors and trying to put them together to form a zoa Garden could potentially bring out some really fantastic results at the end of the day though the best advice for choosing out the right zoas for your zoa Garden is choosing the zoas you like and that catch your eye don't follow the hype unless that's what you like and just get the zoas that speak to you and you'd like to see in your reef tank at home now back to our top 10 zoa list number five Sunny D continuing our Trend with the classics here's another classic and one I know has been around in the Hobby and and being aquacultured for an extended period of time Sunny D's bring a nice variety of color contrast from their purple and blue speckled tentacles down to their vibrant green and orange oral discs another fast growing zoa added to the list and something to keep in mind when you're adding these into your reef tank at [Music] home number four CB rainbow infusion similar to our other zoanthids on our list rainbow infusions come with a lot of nice contrasting colors these have a more pink focused oral disc that bleeds into a green mouth area the tentacles are also very nicely colored with some nice speckling happening between the pink and purple colors once again another zoanthid you probably have heard of or seen at one point and has been around in the hobby for a long time making them a great addition to anyone want wanting a nice hearty and beautiful zoanthid [Music] strain number three TSA Wizards these zoanthids are absolutely stunning and immediately you are drawn into their blue mouse that have some amazing mixtures of shades of blue that create this almost Otherworld likee void the orange and purple coloring that makes up the rest of them is a beautiful contrast to really make that mouth and center of the oral disc pop these zoanthids enjoy a good feeding and put on quite the response to any feeding session a steady grower and Hardy making these another strain that any Reapers should feel confident adding into their tank po sizes are on the average size and once they become a colony can fill in any space very nicely [Music] number two TSA Frozen apples another stunner for the list Frozen apples are known for their larger pup sizes and bright green oral discs a nice splash of speckling as well on the tentacles that really make this zoanthid highly sought after when given some nice high alternating flow they can become super lashy and put out some really nice long curly tentacles some really nice zoanthids to add into any reef tank but will help fill out space quickly and smaller Nano tanks due to their large pop [Music] sizes number one utter chaos one of my personal favorites in our list is the utter chaos with some unreal coloring that occurs on the oral discs that become a mixture of purple lavender and orange all mixed together something about when this specific strain grows out into a larger Colony really lets it Shine for these specific zoas we see that with lower light the pops grow out a bit bigger but sacrifice some of the coloring in them when in stronger par we pull out a much more vibrant color from them but the pops stay a bit smaller the name really says it itself about the colors on this ananth truly chaotic but in the best way [Music] possible now let's go ahead and talk a little bit about some of the honorable mention and more higher-end zoanthids that we have at topshelf Aquatics the first we'll mention is little shops of horror these although tough to keep are very much worthy of their high-end price tag this is due to the fact the coloring and pattern that they put out is some of the best out of all zoanthids stratospheres are another high-end ticket item the hype is real with these Strat zoas with limited availability insane coloration and a truly unique pattering these have put them on the top of every zoa collector's list be aware though these can be difficult to keep and can be very finicky another major reason why they still fetch a high price tag another honorable mention on our list is a TSA classic we have the TSA chemically altered these are some hot zoas and if you can't tell by the videos already the color combination is out of this world these pops can take off pretty well in a reef tank once they get a couple started up and they really can grow into a nice Colony last but not least on our honorable mention we'll talk about exospheres these are another one of my personal favorites and are a zoa that tend to be better in lower lighting we like to try to keep them below 150 par at all times in our our farm facility smaller sized PPS but once they get a hold and start growing they can really take off and spread nicely the list could go on and on here at topshelf Aquatics when picking out our favorite zoanthids if you saw any zoas on the video today that you'd love to add to your reef tank
