One of the Vectra S2's more practical features is its dual-configuration capability. In return pump mode the driver provides calibration settings and a Speed Lock function to maintain a consistent flow rate. Switch to closed-loop mode and the pump gains access to EcoSmart random and pulsing patterns borrowed from EcoTech's VorTech propeller pump lineup — useful for aquarists who want gentle, variable flow through a dedicated closed-loop manifold rather than a single point of discharge. Either way, flow is continuously adjustable without the inefficiency of a restrictor valve, which is how traditional AC return pumps are throttled.

Installation is simplified by the QuickCouple system. The included input and output couplers are compatible with standard PVC and allow the pump to be disconnected from plumbing for cleaning or impeller inspection in seconds. The volute — the pump's intake housing — can also be rotated to align the plumbing ports with your sump layout rather than forcing you to adapt the plumbing to the pump.
