Reef Sump 48 V2 - IceCap

The IceCap Reef Sump 48 V2 is a purpose-built filtration vessel for serious reef aquariums in the 250–350 gallon class. Constructed from durable cast acrylic, it follows a spill-over design in the filter sock compartment that reduces noise and directs flow evenly through two 7-inch, 200-micron sock prefilters before water enters the main equipment sections. Three 1.5-inch intake drains handle high flow rates without becoming a bottleneck, and a dedicated emergency drain holder is integrated into the design.

The skimmer section measures 24.8 x 21.6 inches — enough footprint to accommodate large-format skimmers including the IceCap K3-200INT — while the return pump section at 9.8 x 21.6 inches keeps plumbing tidy and accessible. Adjustable baffles let you dial in water depth anywhere from 5 to 9 inches, which is useful when matching sump water level to skimmer neck height or accommodating different return pump form factors.

The V2 revision makes several practical improvements over the original. The freshwater reservoir has been removed to reclaim usable equipment space, and the old multi-sock configuration has been consolidated into a cleaner dual 7-inch sock arrangement. New drain fittings and a built-in twin heater holder are standard in this version. Exterior dimensions and the core skimmer and return section sizes remain unchanged from V1, so existing cabinet cutouts and plumbing layouts transfer directly.

Included with the sump are a triple probe holder for pH, temperature, and salinity probes, a dual heater holder, and a blue acrylic lid for the filter compartment. Compartment lids dampen surface noise at the intake section, a detail that matters in quieter installations.
