The Radion XR30 G6 Blue builds on a well-established platform with meaningful optical and spectral improvements over its predecessor. The core change is the HEI2 optical system: a redesigned primary lens works in conjunction with the existing hemispherical secondary lens to widen the beam from 110.5 to 126.3 degrees. That wider spread isn't just an aesthetic metric—it increases coverage area, reflects usable light off side glass panels, reduces shadows beneath coral structure, and allows hobbyists to light larger tanks with fewer fixtures. EcoTech reports the G6 delivers the highest average output of any Radion generation to date, with even PAR distribution across a recommended footprint of 36" x 30".

The Blue variant of the G6 is distinguished by its LED mix, which skews toward the cool and actinic end of the spectrum. The 100-diode array includes 32 royal blue, 16 blue, 8 violet (430nm), and multiple UV channels at 395nm, 405nm, and 415nm—a combination that drives fluorescence in SPS and LPS corals and allows the user to dial in the visual character of the blue between actinic and crisp white-blue. This tunability is handled through Mobius, where individual color channels can be adjusted independently. For comparison, the G6 Pro uses a broader, more balanced LED mix that approximates metal halide output; the Blue is the choice for hobbyists who prioritize color pop and fluorescence over a neutral white appearance.

Mobius is EcoTech's wireless control platform and handles all scheduling, spectrum programming, and automation for the G6. The app runs on current iOS and Android and connects to the fixture directly over local wireless—no hub, bridge, or additional controller is required at the base level. EcoTech also ships pre-built lighting programs through the platform, including the widely used CoralLab AB+ spectrum, which gives new users a solid starting point without manual programming. For tanks running Neptune Apex, MXM integration allows the XR30 G6 to be controlled directly through Apex Fusion alongside EcoTech and AquaIllumination equipment.

Physically, the XR30 G6 is compact at 11.8" x 7" x 1.5" and weighs 4.5 lbs, with a maximum draw of 215W and a 13-foot power cable. The fixture ships with a power supply, adapter cable, eyelet mounts, and a microfiber cloth. EcoTech offers several mounting options sold separately: the RMS Mounting Arm for single-fixture over-tank placement, the RMS Track System for multi-fixture arrays on larger tanks, and a hanging kit for suspended installations. All G6 accessories are backwards compatible with G5-era hardware, so existing Radion owners can carry over their mounting infrastructure.
