Description
The Meridian 63 is a 375-watt reef LED fixture built for tanks up to 72 by 24 inches of mixed reef. It runs 120 LEDs across five 24-LED matrices, organized into six individually controlled channels via the ReefBreeders app or an optional manual controller. Two layout options — Original and Shallow Reef — let you choose between a deeper blue 20K look or a warmer 14K shallow-water appearance before the light ships. Interchangeable OHM optics (Balance included, Focus and Encompass sold separately) allow you to tune beam spread and penetration depth to your aquascape. An extended violet range from 400nm to 440nm, including true 440nm indigo LEDs, sets it apart from most reef fixtures in this class.

The Meridian 63 is Reef Breeders' full-length flagship, covering the most common large-format reef footprints with 375 watts drawn through 120 LEDs arranged in five independent matrices. The defining characteristic of the Meridian line is its extended violet and near-UV range — 400nm through 440nm, with true 440nm indigo on a dedicated channel — wavelengths that most aquarium fixtures omit entirely. These are the bands most closely associated with tissue recovery, pigment expression, and sustained polyp growth, and their inclusion produces results that are often visible within the first few weeks: sharper coral edges, richer coloration, and a tank clarity that experienced hobbyists notice before they check a single parameter.

The fixture ships with five OHM Balance optics installed, one per matrix, producing a standard 90-degree spread suited to the widest range of reef tanks. Each optic is interchangeable — Focus at 45 degrees for deep tanks or low-sitting coral, Encompass at 110 degrees for shallow or wide setups — and you can mix spreads across the five positions to match your aquascape rather than compromise across it. The Meridian 63 also accepts Edge bars on its front and rear tracks via Edge Articulating Mounts, extending front-to-back coverage without adding a separate fixture to your network.

Control runs through the ReefBreeders app over 2.4GHz WiFi or Bluetooth, with six-channel scheduling, sunrise and sunset ramps, and location-based moon phase simulation. Programs are stored on the fixture itself, so your schedule continues running through any WiFi interruption. Groups of fixtures can be controlled together over WiFi. For installations where app control is not wanted, the optional Manual Controller plugs into the top of the case and provides two knobs — white and blue, 0 to 100% — plus a built-in timer running 8, 10, or 12 hours with automatic ramps and a moonlight mode.

The Meridian 63 ships in one of two LED layouts chosen at order time. The Original layout is built around a 20K blue aesthetic with four 440nm indigo LEDs on their own channel, matching the most popular scheduling profiles carried over from Reef Breeders' Photon series. The Shallow Reef layout doubles the white LED count for a 14K look, splits warm and cool whites onto separate channels, and suits reef keepers who want a more natural, sunlit appearance with independent tone control. Both layouts run the same six-channel architecture and the same control options.

Mounting is handled through adjustable M6 bolts on top of the case, compatible with hanging cables, side legs, back-of-tank mounts, and T-track systems — all sold separately. Multiple Meridian 63s and Edge bars can be daisy-chained through the single input and output ports, sharing one supply up to 600 watts combined with the appropriate supply and cables. The case is black aluminum, and Reef Breeders has built the Meridian around a stated commitment to long-term parts availability rather than a replacement-cycle product strategy. Note that tanks with black plastic center braces — older Aqueon-style aquariums — may experience shadowing under this fixture; two Meridian 35s or three Meridian 11s are the recommended alternative for those builds.

Overview

Spectrum. Precision. Longevity.

Three principles behind the Meridian 63: a wider violet range than most reef lighting, optics you can tune to your tank, and a fixture built to stay serviceable.

  • Extended Violet Spectrum

    • 400–440nm range including true 440nm indigo LEDs on a dedicated channel
    • Wavelengths tied to tissue recovery, pigment development, and sustained growth
    • Six individually controlled channels via app or optional manual controller
  • Interchangeable OHM Optics

    • Ships with five OHM Balance optics (90°) installed — one per 24-LED matrix
    • OHM Focus (45°) available for deep tanks; OHM Encompass (110°) for wider coverage
    • Mix spreads across the five positions to suit your aquascape
  • Flexible Control and Mounting

    • App control over 2.4GHz WiFi or Bluetooth; schedule stored on the fixture
    • Optional Manual Controller with two knobs and built-in timer — no app required
    • Daisy-chain up to 600W across multiple fixtures; Edge bar tracks on front and rear

Features

  • Hanging Cable Suspension Mount

    Hanging Cable Suspension Mount

The Meridian 63 supports suspension via hanging cables attached to the M6 mounting bolts on top of the aluminum case. Reef Breeders recommends positioning the fixture 10 to 14 inches above the waterline for rated coverage.

  • 400–440nm Extended Violet Range

    400–440nm Extended Violet Range

The spectral scan shows peak output at 445nm with meaningful energy extending from 400nm through 440nm — a range that includes true 440nm indigo LEDs rarely found in aquarium fixtures. This chart reflects all channels set equal on the Original layout.
