Meridian 24 - Reef Breeders

The Meridian 24 is Reef Breeders' 150-watt reef light engineered specifically around the violet-to-indigo portion of the spectrum that most aquarium fixtures underserve. Its spectral output runs from 400nm through 440nm — including dedicated 440nm indigo LEDs — wavelengths associated with tissue recovery, color development, and sustained growth in stony corals. At 48 LEDs across two 24-LED matrices and six independently controlled channels, it gives reef keepers fine-grained control over the light their corals actually receive, not just overall brightness.

Two LED layouts are offered, each with a different character. The Original layout is tuned for a 20K blue look with four 440nm indigo LEDs on a dedicated channel, drawing from the most popular schedules developed by the Photon user base. The Shallow Reef layout doubles the white LED count for a 14K shallow-water appearance and separates 3.5K warm whites onto their own channel, allowing independent adjustment of warm and cool tone. Both layouts run the same six-channel app control and are physically interchangeable at purchase — the choice comes down to the look and the color-mixing flexibility each keeper wants.

Optics are a central part of how the Meridian 24 performs. The fixture takes two OHM (Ocular Holo Matrix) optics, one per 24-LED matrix, and ships with OHM Balance 90° optics installed — a spread suited to the majority of reef tanks and covering up to 36 inches front-to-back. OHM Focus 45° optics tighten the beam for deeper tanks or low-placed corals, while OHM Encompass 110° optics widen coverage for shallower or broader aquascapes. Optics can be mixed across the two matrices to match an asymmetric aquascape, and swapping them follows a documented installation process. Focus and Encompass optics are sold separately.

Control runs through the ReefBreeders app over 2.4GHz WiFi or Bluetooth — two distinct modes selected at setup. Schedules include sunrise and sunset ramps, moon phase simulation based on location, and community-shared programs. The schedule is stored on the fixture itself and continues running through network outages. For setups that don't call for app control, the optional Manual Controller plugs into the port on top of the case and provides two knobs for white and blue intensity, plus a built-in timer with preset run durations and an optional moonlight mode.

The Meridian 24 mounts via adjustable M6 bolts on the case top and supports suspension, back-of-tank, side, and T-track installations. Front and rear tracks accept Edge Articulating Mounts for adding Edge bars when coverage needs to expand. One power input and one output port support daisy chaining up to 600 watts across multiple Meridian and Edge bar fixtures from a single larger supply. Mounting hardware — side legs, back-of-tank mounts, hanging wires — is sold separately, as are daisy chain cables. The fixture is warranted for two years, the included power supply for one year, and it is designed with long-term parts availability in mind rather than a short product cycle.
