The IceCap K3-160 INT is an in-sump protein skimmer built around a controllable DCAIR 2.5 pinwheel pump that blends water and air into a consistent microbubble column for effective organic waste removal. Rated for systems up to 250 gallons, it addresses a common frustration in the hobby: finding a high-performing skimmer that doesn't demand an oversized sump footprint. At 6.7" x 8.5", it fits comfortably in sumps where larger bodies simply won't work.
The DCAIR 2.5 pump draws approximately 900 lph of air and 237 gph of water while consuming only 16 watts, making it efficient relative to its rated tank volume. Ten discrete power levels let you dial in skimmate consistency based on actual bioload rather than running the pump at a fixed output. A built-in feed timer pauses skimmer operation during feeding, reducing microbubble return to the display tank during that window.
The acrylic body measures 6" in diameter with a total height of 21.25". A submerged, pipeless output eliminates the external standpipe common on older designs, keeping plumbing cleaner inside the sump. The cup drain port is 8mm ID / 12mm OD, compatible with standard drain fittings for automated cup draining if desired.
This skimmer performs best in sumps maintaining 7–10" of water depth.
