Reef aquarium lighting is optimized for coral growth, not photography. The intense blue and violet spectrum produced by modern LED fixtures overwhelms smartphone cameras, resulting in images that look nothing like the tank in person. The IceCap Clip-on Lens Kit addresses this directly by placing color-correction filters over the phone's camera lens, neutralizing excess blue light so that coral colors render accurately without post-processing.
The kit ships with two color-correction filters tuned to different color temperatures. The yellow 20K filter is suited to very blue, high-Kelvin lighting setups, while the orange 15K filter works well with slightly warmer or mixed-spectrum fixtures. Swapping between them takes seconds — the universal clip accepts any filter in the set and grips most smartphone and tablet camera modules without adhesive or permanent modification.
A wide-angle lens is also included, which broadens the camera's field of view to capture full tank shots from close range. This is particularly useful for smaller aquariums or tight viewing angles where stepping back is not an option. The wide-angle lens can be used alone or combined with a color filter depending on the shot.
All lenses and the clip store in the included IceCap Mobile Phone Lens Carrying Case, a purpose-built pouch that keeps components separated and prevents lens surfaces from scratching during transport or storage. The kit is well-suited to hobbyists who photograph their tanks regularly and want consistent, accurate results from a phone rather than a dedicated DSLR or mirrorless setup.
