Manual water changes introduce variability — different volumes, different intervals, rushed execution on maintenance day. The Kamoer X2SR removes that variability by automating the entire process through a free mobile app over a 2.4 GHz WiFi connection. You set the schedule, volume, and flow rate; the X2SR handles the rest. Dosing windows can be configured as frequently as 14 times per day or as infrequently as once every 99 days, accommodating everything from light ATO-only use to aggressive nutrient export protocols.

At the core of the system are two high-precision stepper motors paired with PharMed-grade peristaltic tubing, a combination that delivers consistent flow rates without the calibration drift common to lower-quality pump heads. Maximum flow is rated at 900 mL/min, and the pump can push against up to 32 feet of head pressure, making it viable for larger systems where the reservoir and sump are separated by significant elevation. The included submersible DC pump handles saltwater delivery from the fresh water reservoir when paired for auto top-off duty.

Safety features are built into the hardware rather than left to software alone. Four float level sensors with brackets mount at critical water lines; if any sensor detects an out-of-range condition, the X2SR triggers an alarm and stops flow immediately. This hardware-level failsafe is a meaningful distinction from systems that rely solely on app-based alerts. A battery backup ensures that programmed schedules and settings survive a power interruption without requiring manual reconfiguration.

The X2SR ships as a complete kit with tubing, manifolds, magnets for mounting, a graduated cylinder for calibration, grease for pump head maintenance, and all necessary fittings for both water change and auto top-off plumbing. Setup requires a 2.4 GHz WiFi network — 5 GHz is not supported. The unit's footprint is roughly 6.6" x 7" x 8.8", so plan accordingly if cabinet space is limited. It is best suited for hobbyists who want a configurable, set-and-forget water change system rather than a basic single-function ATO.
