Rabbitfish Care Guide: Reef-Safe Algae Eaters for Serious Hobbyists
Introduction to Rabbitfish Care Rabbitfish belong to the genus Siganus, a group of herbivorous saltwater fish from the Indo-Pacific region known for...
This species is primarily a suspension feeder. It uses fan-like mouthparts to capture fine foods from the water column, so it often starves in “clean” tanks unless fed deliberately. Feed small particle foods 1–2 times daily: live or frozen phytoplankton, rotifers, copepod nauplii, oyster eggs, finely powdered reef foods, and very fine mysis or krill dust. Turn off strong mechanical filtration for 10–20 minutes during feeding so the food stays available, and aim a gentle baster stream upstream of the crab rather than blasting it directly. If it shares an anemone with fish, it may also scavenge tiny scraps, but this should not be relied on as a main diet.
