Description

API EM Erythromycin is a broad spectrum treatment used to control bacterial disease. It can be used to treat body slime, mouth fungus, Furunculosis (open lesions and swelling), bacterial gill disease and hemorrhagic septicemia (blood spots without sign of skin damage).It can also be used with any API Ich, fungus or parasite remedy to help prevent secondary bacterial infection. This medication will not color the aquarium water.

Directions:

• Empty one packet directly into aquarium for each 10 gallons of water
• Repeat dose after 24 hours
• Change 25% of the aquarium water 24 hours after second dose
• Repeat treatment for a second time, for a total of 4 doses, followed by a final 25% water change
• Add fresh activated carbon or replace filter cartridge after treatment

If you catch popeye in its early stages, you can use E.M. ERYTHROMYCIN fish remedy for effective treatment. Some signs to look for include protruding or cloudy eyes, either in one eye or both. If you notice any of these symptoms, dose immediately.

• Is API E.M. ERYTHROMYCIN™ fish remedy safe to use as a preventative if one fish is sick in a tank with other seemingly healthy fish?

API E.M. ERYTHROMYCIN fish remedy can help prevent a secondary bacterial infection when used with API SUPER ICK CURE fish remedy. If one fish is sick in an otherwise healthy community of fish, you should separate the diseased fish from the others and keep in a quarantine tank until the sick fish exhibits signs of recovery.

• Should I keep the carbon cartridge out of the filter until treatment with API E.M. ERYTHROMYCIN™ fish remedy is finished, or should I only take it out for a few minutes before/after treating the water?

It’s recommended that you leave the carbon or carbon-containing filter cartridge out of the filter for the entire duration of treatment, removing it directly prior to the first dose of treatment. Products that are designed to remove things from your aquarium, such as carbon, will remove the dose of fish remedy from your tank if it is left within the filter or replaced before the end of treatment.

• Can API E.M. ERYTHROMYCIN™ fish remedy be used with other API fish remedies?

API E.M. ERYTHROMYCIN fish remedy is safe for use alongside other API products. API fish remedies may be used in conjunction with each other safely, as long as both sets of directions for separate fish remedies may be followed exactly. We would not recommend using more than two fish remedies at a time unless you are certain of the diagnosis of multiple ailments, so that you can tell which fish remedies are working or not working while troubleshooting a stubborn disease issue.

• Can I use API E.M. ERYTHROMYCIN™ fish remedy to treat any species of fish?

This API E.M. ERYTHROMYCIN fish remedy may be safely used to treat all types of fish, with the dosage adjusted accordingly based on the gallons per aquarium.

• Should I keep the bio media out of the filter during treatment with API E.M. ERYTHROMYCIN™ fish remedy?

While any carbon media must be removed, it is essential to the health of your fish that the bio media remains within the filter and the filter remains running during treatment. This will ensure that the water remains aerated and the water quality will be maintained during treatment so that it does not stress your fish. If there is no bio media in your specific filter, we recommend the use API Quick Start during the water change portion of the dosing instructions as well as frequent water testing during treatment.
