Description
Made specifically for aquarium water filtration, our laboratory-grade carbon features a sub-bituminous coal base with optimum pore structure to remove colors, tannins, odors, medications, and other common organic waste contaminants. Reef Genetics Granular Activated Carbon will clear up your cloudy aquarium water.
While most of the carbon sold for fish tanks is actually designed to treat air, Reef Genetics Granular Carbon is specifically washed and steam-activated to treat water. Unlike other common carbons or charcoals which can have high levels of contaminants that will leach into water, our carbon has low levels of dust and impurities.
- Eliminates cloudy water in fresh, brackish and saltwater environments
- Effectively removes colors, odors, tannins, and other organic waste products
- Higher performance than lignite or coconut shell carbons
- Made according to Food Chemicals Codex (FCC) standards, with a high-purity phosphate-free production process
- Large granules which allow for increased flow in filter media bags, cartridges or hang on filters.
- Combien with Reef Genetics GFO Phosphate Reducer for added algae reduction
Reef Genetics Activated Carbon is manufactured by Reef Genetics and specifically formulated for aquarium water filtration. It is made from a sub-bituminous coal base starting material that provides an optimum pore structure for the removal of colors, tannins, odors, medications, and other common organic contaminants from aquariums. Because of this optimum pore structure, Reef Genetics Carbon performs better than lignite, bituminous, or coconut shell carbons for removing common organic contaminants in aquatic environments. The carbon production process is phosphate-free, eliminating the potential for phosphate to be released from the carbon. The result is a fast-acting, laboratory-grade carbon that is safe for all freshwater and marine fish, invertebrates, and plants.
How to Eliminate Cloudy Aquarium Water and Remove Organic Contaminants
- 1 Cup carbon per 50 gallons (1 tablespoon for every 3 gallons).
- Rinse all new media and place in a media bag or fluidized reactor.
- If After 24 hours there are any negative coral reactions visible then reduce the amount by half.
- Change every 2-4 weeks.
