The Orange Semi-Storm Clownfish is a vibrant designer variation of the classic Ocellaris Clown. With their striking contrast, hardy nature, and playful behavior, Orange Semi-Storm Clowns are both beginner-friendly and highly sought after by collectors.

Tank Requirements

  • Minimum Tank Size: 20 gallons (larger recommended for a pair)

  • Environment: Rockwork with open swimming space; optional host anemone

  • Flow: Low to moderate

  • Lid: Recommended — clowns can occasionally jump when startled

Orange Semi-Storm Clowns adapt easily to a variety of reef setups, thriving in stable, well-maintained aquariums. While they may naturally host in anemones, they do just as well without one.

Natural Behavior

Semi-Storm Clowns display the active, curious, and personable nature typical of Ocellaris. They are generally peaceful but may become territorial once paired, particularly around their chosen host or “home” area. Their playful swimming and unique markings make them a constant source of interest in the tank.

  • Reef Safe: Yes — completely safe with corals and invertebrates

  • Best With: Gobies, wrasses, firefish, tangs, and other peaceful to moderately active fish

  • Avoid: Mixing with other clownfish species (except bonded pairs) to prevent aggression
