At Top Shelf Aquatics, we offer many different Clean Up Crew Packages for tanks of all varying sizes and needs. This invertebrate bundle is our smallest package, and has been tailored for new saltwater aquariums between 90-100+ gallons.
This Pack Includes:
20x Blue Legged Hermit Crabs
20x Red Legged Hermit Crabs
15x Astrea Snails
10x Trochus Snails
Blue Leg Hermit The Blue Leg Hermit Crabs also known as Tricolor Hermits or Dwarf Blue Legs are tiny powerhouses and used extensively in the marine aquarium hobby for control of nuisance algae including hair algae, diatoms and cyanobacteria. Blue Legs congregate in large numbers in the wild feeding upon many types of algae and do a wonderful job within a reef tank consuming algae as well as leftovers. Size per individual is roughly 1/2” - 1” shell.
Red Leg Hermit The Red Leg Hermit Crab also known as Mexican Red Leg Hermits are tiny powerhouses used extensively in the marine aquarium hobby for control of nuisance algae including hair algae, diatoms and cyanobacteria. Red Leg Hermits also serve to clean up any uneaten food and help keep sandbeds clean. Red Leg Hermits will generally grow slightly larger than their Blue Leg cousins. Size per individual is roughly 1/2” - 1” shell.
Astrea Snail The Astrea Turbo snail is one of the smaller, more commonly used algae eaters in the saltwater hobby. Astrea snails will help clean your glass of algae and will also feed on nuisance algae in the aquarium, including cyanobacteria and diatoms. These snails prefer environments with sufficient rock work for maneuvering around the aquarium, and unlike Trochus snails, generally cannot flip themselves over.
Banded Trochus Snail This is our favorite snails here at TSA. A simple, hardy, and powerful algae cleaning machine. These snails are very hardy and can easily flip themselves over if they end up on the sandbed. Trochus Snails can grow to 3” in shell size, and are known to readily spawn in the home aquarium, capable of creating a stable population over time. The Banded Trochus Snail is very peaceful and because of its shell shape, it is not easily eaten or harassed by crustaceans.
Our inverts are for saltwater aquariums only.
