WYSIWYG – Approx. Size: 4.50–5.00 Inches

The Blue Lined Grouper is a stunning reef predator known for its striking cobalt blue horizontal stripes contrasting against a rich reddish-brown body. This species exhibits a sleek, elongated profile and captivating coloration that intensifies under aquarium lighting. Tank Requirements

This grouper thrives in stable, mature systems with ample cover to retreat. It benefits from a tank with moderate flow and minimal aggressive tankmates.
Natural Behavior
Blue Lined Groupers are ambush predators that rely on stealth and patience to catch prey. They are generally solitary and can be territorial, especially in smaller tanks. Despite their predatory nature, they exhibit a calm demeanor when well-fed and properly housed.
Diet & Feeding
Carnivorous with a preference for meaty foods:
-
Live or frozen shrimp, silversides, squid, and small fish
-
Chopped seafood such as clam or scallop
-
High-quality frozen carnivore preparations
Feed 3–5 times per week. Avoid overfeeding to maintain water quality and fish health.
Tankmates & Compatibility
Temperament: Semi-aggressive; predatory toward smaller fish and invertebrates
Reef Safe: No — will eat small fish and inverts
Best With: Larger, robust fish such as tangs, large wrasses, and other sizeable groupers
Avoid small or delicate species. Blue Lined Groupers do best in large, species-specific or predator tanks with tankmates too big to be preyed upon.
