The Ruby Red Dragonet, Synchiropus sycorax, is a spectacularly colored small marine aquarium fish distinguished by its brilliant ruby-red body, contrasting white spots, yellow underside, and elaborately patterned fins. Males are especially striking, developing a taller, more ornate first dorsal fin that can be displayed during courtship or territorial interactions. Its unusual coloration and deliberate, hopping movement across the aquascape make it an exceptionally engaging fish for established reef aquariums.
Native to the Philippines in the Western Pacific, Synchiropus sycorax occurs around deeper reef habitats with broken coral rubble and outcrops of soft and stony corals. Tank Requirements
