Rabbitfish Care Guide: Reef-Safe Algae Eaters for Serious Hobbyists
Introduction to Rabbitfish Care Rabbitfish belong to the genus Siganus, a group of herbivorous saltwater fish from the Indo-Pacific region known for...
Trochus are primarily herbivores that spend most of the day rasping microalgae, diatoms, and biofilm. In tanks with limited algae, supplement 2–4 times per week with dried seaweed (nori) on a clip near the bottom, sinking herbivore pellets, or algae wafers broken into small pieces. Start with small amounts and remove leftovers within a few hours to avoid nutrient spikes. If you see a snail spending long periods on the sand or glass with little grazing, or the shell lip looks thin and growth slows, increase supplemental feeding and ensure adequate calcium/alkalinity for shell growth. Avoid overstocking; a common failure is adding too many snails for the available food.
