One of the main reasons for tank teardowns is pests, which means protecting your aquarium with a coral dip before adding any new coral is essential. The majority of dips will help you avoid common coral pests like acro eating flatworms (also known as AEFW), Montipora eating nudibranchs, Zoa eating nudibranchs, Zoa eating spiders, bristleworms, and more. Even if dips are mostly efficient at ridding you of all pests, since coral dips do not destroy any eggs, it is important to carefully check any new coral both before and after.
