Rabbitfish Care Guide: Reef-Safe Algae Eaters for Serious Hobbyists
Introduction to Rabbitfish Care Rabbitfish belong to the genus Siganus, a group of herbivorous saltwater fish from the Indo-Pacific region known for...
These snails are primarily film-algae and microalgae grazers. In new or very “clean” tanks, they can starve, so plan supplemental feeding. Offer dried seaweed (nori) on a clip, algae-based wafers, spirulina pellets, or finely crushed herbivore foods placed near where they graze, especially at night. Feed small amounts 2–4 times per week, adjusting so food is gone by the next day. Avoid relying on hair algae as the only food source; many individuals prefer film algae and diatoms. Remove uneaten food to prevent nutrient spikes. If the snail becomes inactive, stays retracted for long periods, or loses body mass, increase available grazing surfaces and supplemental feeds.
