Rabbitfish Care Guide: Reef-Safe Algae Eaters for Serious Hobbyists
Introduction to Rabbitfish Care Rabbitfish belong to the genus Siganus, a group of herbivorous saltwater fish from the Indo-Pacific region known for...
Fighting Conchs graze diatoms, film algae, and organic detritus on and within the top layer of sand. In many tanks they need supplemental feeding once visible algae films thin out or if the sand looks “too clean.” Target-feed small amounts 2–4 times per week (or more in sparse systems): sinking herbivore wafers, spirulina-based pellets, finely chopped nori secured near the sand, or small portions of thawed herbivore blends. They will also take meaty bits, but a primarily plant/detritus-based diet helps avoid water-quality issues. Signs of underfeeding include excessive roaming on glass/rocks, weight loss (sunken foot area), and reduced activity. Avoid overfeeding; remove uneaten food to prevent nutrient spikes.
