Electric Blue Hermits are omnivorous scavengers. In a well-established reef they’ll pick at film algae, leftover food, and detritus, but they should not be relied on as the only “clean-up crew.” Feed 3–5 times per week in small portions: sinking marine pellets, thawed mysis/brine, finely chopped seafood, and algae-based foods (nori strips, spirulina flakes). Rotate foods to cover protein and plant matter. A small feeding dish or target-feeding with tongs keeps food off corals and limits nutrient spikes. Provide calcium and carbonate through stable alkalinity and occasional mineral-rich foods; hermits need these to build and maintain a strong exoskeleton after molts.
