But they also require stable conditions and thoughtful placement to thrive.
At Top Shelf Aquatics, we offer both aquacultured and carefully sourced specimens, including popular species like Bubble Tip (Entacmaea quadricolor), Rock Flower, and Long Tentacle Anemones. Each anemone is held in dedicated systems, monitored for expansion, color, and responsiveness before being made available for sale.

Are your anemones aquacultured or wild?
Many of our anemones, especially Bubble Tips and Rock Flowers, are aquacultured or propagated in captivity, which improves their ability to adapt to home systems. However, some species are responsibly sourced from the wild and held in-house for observation and conditioning.
All anemones are housed in dedicated systems and are monitored for signs of health: full expansion, feeding response, and consistent coloration. We only list individuals that meet our health and stability standards, regardless of origin.

What lighting and flow do anemones need?
Most anemones require moderate to high PAR lighting (150–300 depending on species) and moderate, variable flow. Bubble Tip Anemones, for example, do well under strong LED lighting and prefer spots with gentle, indirect flow that lets their tentacles move naturally without being blasted.
We recommend introducing anemones to mature systems where lighting and nutrient levels are stable. If you're unsure about placement or lighting intensity, our team is happy to help you evaluate your setup.

Are anemones safe to keep with corals and fish?
Anemones can coexist with corals and fish, but they need space and stable parameters. They may wander after introduction, so it’s important to keep nearby corals at a safe distance until the anemone settles. Certain fish, especially clownfish, can host in them, but compatibility depends on the species.
Some anemones may sting or outcompete neighboring corals, so careful placement is key. We typically recommend adding them before delicate SPS or LPS colonies if possible.

How are anemones shipped, and do you offer a guarantee?
Anemones are packed with extra care to protect their delicate tissue. Each anemone is shipped overnight, Monday through Thursday, to avoid weekend delays.
All livestock is covered under our live arrival guarantee. If an anemone arrives in poor condition, reach out with photos shortly after delivery and our team will help resolve the issue quickly.

How can I tell if an anemone is healthy and stable enough for my tank?
A healthy anemone should have full tissue inflation, intact coloration (not bleached), a responsive mouth, and a strong, undamaged foot that grips onto surfaces. While they don’t always stay attached during transit, they should show the ability to re-anchor quickly once placed in a stable tank environment.

We closely inspect each specimen’s foot to ensure it's not torn or recessed and verify that the anemone is fully expanded and feeding well before listing it for sale.
