The SKY is a 200w LED aquarium lamp with proprietary diffuser technology that evenly blends 104 LEDs to produce a field of light that is best for coral health. By taking a hint from nature, the customized diffuser array imitates the filtering effect of our environment to mix the output of the potent LED array and address frequent problems with hot spots and disco-ball effects common to most LEDs, resulting in the most natural-looking output we’ve ever seen.Additionally, the SKY’s origin has a substantial surface area of diffused light, simulating the atmosphere’s horizon-to-horizon effect and significantly lessening shadowing. To light your reef aquarium and meet the demands of even the most picky corals for health, development, and color, The SKY can provide broader and more equal coverage with fewer fixtures.

While some reef lighting users want a natural daylight spectrum, most choose a brighter blue-purple hue to fully bring out the colors of their coral. Apex Connected or Standalone Operation

Those without an Apex can use their mobile devices to control the SKY over BT wirelessly. If you already own an Apex controller, you can easily incorporate the SKY into your existing Apex environment by connecting its inbuilt AquaBus connection to a port on one of your modules or the base unit. Setup is quick and simple as a result. The accompanying Y-cable may be used to chain multiple SKYs together so that your Apex only needs one AquaBus connection if you have more than one.

Advanced Thermal Management

The SKY has a sophisticated method of heat management that goes beyond the two fans you can see.

So why are there two fans? With two fans, the SKY can keep the LEDs cooler while running them at significantly lower RPMs. A longer lifespan for your light is a result of cooler LEDs. The SKY is also quieter because to reduced fan operation; in fact, it is the quietest actively-cooled LED in its power class. The SKY’s output is just 33 dB at one meter when it is at 100%. The top rival measures at >40dB at full power.

A temperature and power monitoring algorithm controls the speed of these fans as well. The SKY will continue to operate and be securely cooled even if one of the fans fails since the other will pick up the slack until a replacement is found. Additionally, the SKY will limit the power to the LED to keep them safely cool if for any other cause, such as an abnormally high ambient air temperature, it is unable to cool itself sufficiently.

Adjustable Shimmer

The SKY offers a mild shimmer that most aquarists enjoy because to its equipment and surface water agitation. We discovered early on in the creation of SKY that when a diffuser is placed in front of an LED, as many lights do, shimmer is almost always eliminated. That’s not good, either. Therefore, we created a hybrid diffuser called Shimz that features transparent coverings over four of the diffuser’s apertures so that white LED light may pass through them directly without any diffusion. The sheen that was lost due to the diffuser is then somewhat restored by these white LEDs. However, we provided an alternative because not everyone has the same taste. To reduce shimmer even further, SKY Diffused Shimz can be swapped in – available as an optional purchase.
