Beginners should avoid attempting to retain these corals since they require a very stable reef structure. They should not be added to a system that is less than 6 months old for optimum outcomes. Acropora are delicate and difficult to care for because they are highly sensitive to changes in water chemistry, and require high flow and light levels. Unlike more forgiving corals, Acropora shows their displeasure by either changing color or dying outright.
